Provost to hold office hours for students

Provost Harvey Fineberg will hold office hours for students from 3 to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 6, at his Massachusetts Hall office. Meetings are held on a first-come, first-served basis.

Center for Literary and Cultural Studies to hold spring conferences

The Center for Literary and Cultural Studies will be sponsoring spring conferences on "The Turn to Ethics" and "Bernini and Beyond: Baroque Cultures, Contexts, Representations."

"The Turn to Ethics" brings together national and international scholars to address such topics as ethics in the classroom, ethics and cultural difference, ethics and democracy, and ethics in technology and medicine. Speakers include scholars in political science, philosophy, history of science, literature, social policy, rhetoric and medicine. The weekend-long event will take place Saturday, April 4 (1-6 p.m.), and Sunday, April 5 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.), and will be held in the Barker Center, Thompson Room.

In celebration of the fourth centennial of the birth of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, "Bernini and Beyond" will host several speakers to address Bernini's life achievements. The event will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 25, in Barker Center, Room 133.

Both events are free and open to the public.

Harvard Travel Fair to be held next week

Faculty and staff are invited to meet travel vendors at the 1998 Harvard Travel Fair, which will be held Monday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Charles Hotel Ballroom. The event also includes travel games, refreshments, and eligibility to win travel prizes. Participants may also receive discounts toward various merchandise. An invitation or an I.D. is required for admission.

Galbraith to speak at discussion on India

The Department of Sanskrit and Indian Studies Outreach Committee will present a community discussion on "Fifty Years of Free India." John Kenneth Galbraith, Paul M. Warburg Professor of Economics Emeritus, will be featured. The event will be held Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m. in the Science Center, Lecture Hall C.
