The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences has been awarded the Silver Medal for its Fall 1997 alumni newsletter from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

The newsletter is produced by Paula Szocik, director of GSAS Publications and Alumni Relations, and written by Janine Brunell, GSAS writer/editor. The newsletter category of the competition was open to the 384 member institutions in CASE District 1, North Atlantic Region.

Entries were judged on overall design, content, writing, use of photographs and graphics, and achievement of objectives with the resources and budget available. The judges' comments praised the newsletter's layout, use of photos, ink color, paper stock, and range of subject matter.
