Office of Work and Family Will Offer a Program on Couples and Cultural Expectations

Niti Seth and Robert Read, of the Bureau of Study Counsel, will be offering a one-hour program, "Couples and Cultural Expectations: Creating and Sustaining Healthy Relationships," from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 (in time for Valentine's Day). The program will focus on the many challenges couples face, including some of the cultural causes of strain and differing expectations, and explore some ways to renew one's relationship. Sponsored by the Office of Work and Family, the program will be held at 2 Bratttle Square, second floor. To register, call 495-4100.

Faculty/staff basketball weekend includes free tickets

Faculty/staff weekend for men's basketball will be Feb. 27 and 28. The team plays Yale on Friday night and Brown on Saturday night at Lavietes Pavilion. Both games start at 7 p.m.

All faculty/staff are entitled to one free ticket by showing their I.D. at the athletic ticket office prior to the games or at the ticket window the night of the games.

Rockefeller Center hosts lecture, film, exhibition

Among the many activities at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) is a session on "Violence in Latin America: Exploring the Costs, Magnitude, and Cultural Norms," to be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the DRCLAS, 61 Kirkland St.

In addition, the first in a series of Brazilian films -- Black God, White Devil -- will be shown on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the DRCLAS.

The opening reception for an exhibition of drawings by J. Michael Walker, which combine a spiritual mysticism with intricately observed details of daily life in rural Mexico, will be held 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the DRCLAS. The exhibition will run through April 15.

Brazilian dance group seeks new members

The Capoeira Group, a student organization that performs a karate-dance originated by slaves who were brought to Brazil from the Angola region of Africa, is seeking new members. For details, call 493-3188 or e-mail grillo@fas.harvard.edu.
