President to hold office hours for students President Neil L. Rudenstine will hold office hours for students on Friday, Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. in his Massachusetts Hall office. Office hours are held on a first-come, first-served business. Student films sought for ARTS FIRST festival Entries for the ARTS FIRST student film festival are being accepted now. Donation of books made in memory of alumnus The first of a series of sub-Saharan book donation shipments is being launched by the Cambridge-based Sabre Foundation in memory of the late Michael C. Christian '60, JD '64. The book shipment will be destined for the countries of Ghana and Tanzania. Christian had been a board member of the Foundation. University Choir to release new CD Pro Organo has just issued a new compact disc (CD-7085) from the University Choir: Lo, there is light! Choral Music for a New Millennium. Under the direction of University Organist and Choirmaster Murray Forbes Somerville and assisted at the organ by Associate Organist and Choirmaster Nancy Granert, the Choir performs works by well-known composers such as Virgil Thomson and Henryk Górecki as well as works by lesser-knowns, including several selections commissioned by the Choir. Among these is a series of Amens by Daniel Roihl '97. The CD was recorded last May at the All Saints' Episcopal Church in Worcester. Monane Prize in Japanese language goes to junior Junior Andrew Eggers will receive the Tazuko Ajiro Monane Prize for the1997-98 academic year in a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 12. The Tazuko Ajiro Monane Memorial Fund was established in 1991 by the family, colleagues, students, and friends of Tazuko Ajiro Monane, professor of Japanese language and director of the Japanese Language Program, in remembrance of her enthusiastic spirit and her devotion to excellence in the teaching of Japanese language and culture. The goal of the award is to further the recipient's interest in and understanding of Japanese language and culture.
