Provost Harvey V. Fineberg will hold office hours for students in his Massachusetts Hall office on Monday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. President Linda S. Wilson will hold office hours for students in her Fay House office on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Office hours are held on a first-come, first-served basis. The Harvard Suicide Research Committee is offering small grants ($3,000-$6,000) to support pilot research on suicide or related topics during 1998. The grants are funded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and junior investigators are encouraged to apply. Applicants should send a short letter of intent detailing their research topic and a curriculum vitae to: Gil Noam, Laboratory of Developmental Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology, Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital, 115 Mill St., Belmont, MA 02178. The deadline is Dec. 17. The Harvard Project on Schooling and Children is offering 24-month postdoctoral fellowships in evaluation to promote innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to the evaluation of programs for children. Applicants must have received their Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent degree between Sept. 1, 1993, and Aug. 31, 1998. Qualifications also include a strong background in research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative) and good knowledge of evaluation methods. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest or background in programs for children and a strong desire to develop interdisciplinary approaches to program evaluation. Support will be provided to fellows for two years (September 1998-August 2000) with an annual stipend of $38,250. The application deadline is Feb. 15, 1998.
