  Faculty Council

At the Faculty Council's sixth meeting of the year Dean William Todd (Undergraduate Education and Slavic) presented the Educational Policy Committee's draft preliminary reports on "The Language Requirement" and "Overall Requirements." These preliminary reports have been prepared for the Dec. 9 Faculty Meeting, as specified by the Faculty in its votes of May 20, l997. Four student members of the Committee on Undergraduate Education (CUE) were present for this discussion: Noah Freeman '99, James Grimmelmann '98, Sarah Hurwitz '99, and Benjamin Rahn '99.

The Council also continued its discussion from last spring of the Review of the Faculty's Ph.D. Program in Health Policy, as required by the Faculty's vote of April 9, l991. Dean Christoph Wolff (Graduate Education and Music) introduced the Review, joined by review committee members Allan Brandt (History of Science and of Medicine) and Theda Skocpol (Government and Sociology). Present for the discussion were Professor Joseph P. Newhouse (Health Policy and Management) and Professor David Cutler (Economics).

Finally, the Council reviewed the draft preliminary agenda for the December Faculty Meeting.

The preliminary docket deadline for the December Faculty Meeting is Nov. 24. The Council next meets on Dec. 3.
