  Faculty Council Elects Committee Members

The Faculty Council, at its first meeting of the year, elected a Docket Committee for l997-98 as follows: Dean Jeremy R. Knowles (Chemistry and Chemical Biology), chair (ex officio); Professor Christie McDonald (Romance Languages and Literatures), vice chair; Professors Peter Bol (East Asian Languages and Civilizations) and Theda Skocpol (Government and Sociology). The Council also agreed to propose Professor Donald Pfister (Organismic and Evolutionary Biology) as Parliamentarian for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences for l997-98.

The Council discussed with Dean for Undergraduate Education William Todd (Slavic Languages and Literatures) his reports on the first implementation of the new summa legislation (at the June 2, l997, Degree Meeting) and on the re-accreditation process now under way.

Additionally, the Council reviewed the proposed agenda for the Oct. 21 Faculty Meeting, the pending Docket of Faculty Business, developments since the Faculty's last discussion of the Review of the Core Curriculum, its own agenda for the coming term, and its own sub-committee assignments. The Council noted the resignation of Professor Gareth McKinley (Engineering and Applied Science) from the Council.

The preliminary docket deadline for the Oct. 21 Faculty Meeting is 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6.
