  Senator Snowe To Deliver Class Day Address at Kennedy School

Olympia J. Snowe, Republican senator from Maine nationally known for her work on budget deficit reduction, health care, women's issues, and foreign affairs, will present the Class Day Address to the 1997 graduates of the Kennedy School of Government at noon on Tuesday, June 3, at the ARCO Forum.

Snowe is a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, where she chairs the Subcommittee on Oceans and Fisheries. She also serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services, the Senate Budget Committee, and the Senate Committee on Small Business. Before her election to the Senate, Snowe represented Maine's Second Congressional District for eight terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a member of the House of Representatives, she co-chaired the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues and was a leading member of the former House Select Committee on Aging where she served as ranking Republican on its Subcommittee on Human Services.

Before her election to Congress, Snowe served in both the Maine House of Representatives and the Maine Senate.
