Film festival features work of Harvard affiliates

Hollywood's calling!

The 1997 New England Film & Video Festival is presenting the films of two Harvard affiliates.

The Empty Mirror, a film by Barry Hershey, a 1967 graduate of the Law School and a visiting fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, offers an examination of a deposed Adolph Hitler. The film shows Wednesday, April 2, at 7 p.m.

Six O'Clock News, a film by Ross McElwee, a filmmaking associate in the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, takes viewers on a cross-country trip punctuated by pit stops to find people whose personal tragedies have been featured on the six o'clock news. The film shows Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m.

The festival, presented by the Boston Film Video Foundation, runs March 31 to April 5 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline. Tickets and six-day passes are available in advance or at the door. For a complete schedule, call 536-1540.

Mann steps down from Bagnoud Center position

Jonathan Mann, director of the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights, will step down from his post at the end of 1997.

Mann is the first Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Professor of Health and Human Rights.

Harvey Fineberg, Dean of the School of Public Health, said, "Everyone at the School joins me in expressing our appreciation to Jonathan for all he has done for our School, and much more, for what he has done so well and promises to achieve for the public health."

A search has begun to locate a new leader for the Center.

Radiologists selected as fellow, board member

B. Leonard Holman, the Philip H. Cook Professor of Radiology, has been invited to serve as a member of the board of trustees of the American Board of Radiology for a four-year term starting July 1.

Brigham and Women's radiologist and associate professor of radiology Steven Seltzer has been elected to receive a fellowship in the American College of Radiology. As a fellow, Seltzer will have the opportunity for greater participation in the workings of the College for the welfare of all radiologists and patients.
