Vacation house available for winter stays

Harvard's vacation house at Kittery Point, Maine, is available for rent during February and March to salaried faculty and officers of the University. For information, call Harvard Planning and Real Estate at 495-9367.

President Wilson to hold office hours for students

President Linda S. Wilson will hold office hours for students at her Fay House office (second floor) on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Office hours are held on first-come, first-served basis.

Reischauer Institute offers grants, fellowships

The Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies is offering the following grants and fellowships:

Henry Rosovsky Undergraduate Summer Travel Research Grant and the Reischauer Institute Undergraduate Summer Travel Grants for 1997. Awarded to Harvard undergraduates in the humanities or social sciences to use in Japan for research and/or fieldwork relating directly to a senior honors thesis in some area of Japanese studies. Grants: up to $3,000. Deadline: extended to Feb. 14.

International University of Japan (IUJ) Fellowship Program. Two two-year fellowships for graduating or recently graduated Harvard B.A. students in area of Japanese studies, international affairs, or development studies in the Asia-Pacific region. Students with backgrounds in any academic field may apply. Deadline: Feb. 14.

Noma-Reischauer Prizes in Japanese Studies. Awarded to Harvard students who write essays on Japan-related topics. One ($2,000) undergraduate and one ($3,000) graduate prize are awarded annually. Deadline: June 30.

Fellowships offered in children's program evaluation

The Harvard Project on Schooling and Children is offering its 1997-99 Postdoctoral Fellowships in Evaluating Programs for Children.

The goal of the fellowships is to promote innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to the evaluation of programs for children.

Applicants must have received a Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent degree within the past five years.
