Grants available for suicide-related work The Harvard Suicide Research Committee is offering small grants (up to $5,000) to support suicide research from any disciplinary perspective during 1997. The grants are funded by the American Suicide Foundation and the committee especially encourages junior investigators to apply for them. Applicants should send a two-page abstract, a preliminary budget, and a curriculum vitae to Professor Gil Noam, Laboratory of Developmental Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology, Harvard Medical School & McLean Hospital, 115 Mill St., Belmont, MA 02178, or Risk & Prevention Program,m 601 Larsen Hall, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Cambridge, MA 02138. Proposals are reviewed as they are submitted. Change of schedule for President Rudenstine's hours for students President Neil L. Rudenstine's Feb. 5 office hours for students have been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. The full spring-term schedule of office hours for students is as follows: President Rudenstine: Feb. 10, 5-6 p.m.; March 4, 4-5 p.m.; April 1, 4-5 p.m.; and May 7, 4-5 p.m. President Linda S. Wilson (all hours held 4:30 -5:30 p.m., except on May 28): Feb. 5 and 19; March 5 and 19; April 2, 16, and 30; May 14 and 28 (3-4 p.m.), and June 11 and 24. Provost Albert Carnesale: (all hours held 4-5 p.m.) Feb. 18, March 17, April 15, and May 19. Winter Teaching Orientation to be held The Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning's Winter Teaching Orientation will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Science Center. The program will include sessions for both new and experienced teachers, and will include presentations on Discussion Leading, Professional Conduct, and New Opportunities for Teaching with Technology. Faculty and teaching fellows may register by calling 495-4869 or e-mailing bokcenter@fas.harvard.edu by Jan. 24. Ethics graduate fellowships available The Program in Ethics and the Professions is offering graduate fellowships in ethics for 1997-98. Applications are invited from Harvard doctoral students, advanced or recently graduated professional school students, and physicians-in-training. The deadline is Thursday, Feb. 13.
