Unseen Theatre Seeks Scripts
Unseen Theatre, a professional theater company in residence at Adams House, is seeking scripts for "The Two Cents Festival," a weekend of staged readings of new plays to be held Dec. 6-8. Plays submitted for consideration must be full-length and unproduced. Musicals, one-person shows, or plays for children cannot be accepted. Plays with casts of seven or fewer actors are preferred. Three scripts will be chosen to receive one week's rehearsal with a director, dramaturg, and professional actors, culminating in a public reading at the Adams House Pool Theatre. Playwrights must be available for all rehearsals and the final, public readings on Dec. 6, 7, and 8. Room and board is available for playwrights from outside the Boston area. Unseen Theatre is committed to developing and producing new plays of substance; plays that take risks; that offer new perspectives; that find the humor in dire circumstances; that are not afraid to ask difficult questions and do not provide easy answers. Interested playwrights should send a letter of introduction, a resume or biography, a script-sized SASE, and one securely bound copy of their play to: Andrew Hermann, Literary Director, Unseen Theatre, P.O. Box 381523, Cambridge, MA 02238. The playwright's name, address, and telephone number must appear on the script. Scripts submitted without SASEs cannot be returned. Plays must be received by Oct. 31 to be considered for inclusion in the festival. Scripts received after Oct. 31 will be read but will not be eligible for the festival. Unseen Theatre was founded in 1991 and currently consists of many current Harvard undergraduates and alumni. Auditions will be held for winter shows, Dog Opera and Fool for Love, in November and for Scenes from an Execution and Much Ado About Nothing in April. The auditions are open to the entire Harvard community. For more information on the festival of staged readings or the auditions, email unseen@tiac.net, or call 776-3389. Tickets are available at Holyoke Center Ticket Office (465-2663) or BOSTIX/Ticketmaster (931-2000).
