Polly Price Named Associate V.P. for Human Resources
Sally Zeckhauser, Vice President for Administration, has announced the appointment of Polly Price as associate vice president for human resources. Price currently serves as associate dean for human resources in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Price will replace Candace Corvey, who is leaving Harvard to become vice president for finance and administration at the University of New Hampshire. "Polly is a strong leader," said Zeckhauser, "and has distinguished herself at Harvard as administrative dean at the School of Design as well as in her present role in FAS. She has all the skills and experience requisite for success as the chief human resources officer of the University." Price graduated from Smith College and received a Master of Arts in teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She came to Harvard in 1985 and has served since then on a number of University committees including the University Task Force on Benefits, the Administrative Data Task Force, and the University Negotiating Team during recent contract talks with the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers (HUCTW.) She is currently a member of the University Benefits Committee and chair of its Administration Subcommittee. Candace Corvey, who came to the Office of Human Resources (OHR) from her position as associate dean for finance in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, headed OHR for nearly two and a half years. She oversaw the implementation of major benefits changes and the successful negotiation of several labor contracts, including one with Harvard's largest union, HUCTW. "I am grateful for Candace's contribution to OHR in recent years," Zeckhauser said, "and for her 15 years of service to Harvard. I am very sorry to lose her but pleased for her that she looks forward to a wonderful professional opportunity at UNH."
