Loeb Music Library to Receive Mozart Collection

Harvard University established itself as a major center for Mozart research after recently receiving a private collection of books and scores devoted to the music of Wolfgang Amedeus Mozart.

The Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library at Harvard received the collection from Dr. Eric Offenbacher, a distinguished Mozart scholar from Seattle, Wash. The collection includes two autograph manuscripts of Mozart and nearly 100 first and early editions of the composer's works.

"We intend to build upon Dr. Offenbacher's splendid library, augmenting it with new acquisitions from the antiquarian market, further developing the collection's already extraordinary depth," said John B. Howard, Richard French Librarian.

The collection is housed in the Loeb Music Library, the Isham Memorial Library, and the Houghton Library.
