Reischauer Institute offers fellowship, grants programs
Several fellowships and grants programs are available at the Reischauer
Institute of Japanese Studies. They are:
Harvard Postdoctoral Fellowships in Japanese Studies, 1996-97, support young
scholars while revising dissertations for publication (deadline: March 1);
Supplementary Dissertation Grants, 1996-97, support doctoral candidates
in the final stage of dissertation writing (March 1); Summer Research Grants
for Graduate Students, 1996, for advanced doctoral candidates (March 1);
Rosovsky and Reischauer Institute Undergraduate Summer Travel Grants, 1996,
for senior honors thesis work (March 1); and the Noma-Reischauer Prize in
Japanese Studies for students who write essays on Japan-related topics (June

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, there will be an information session on a two-year
full fellowship program at International University of Japan. The session
is at 3 p.m. in Coolidge Hall, Room 318.
Maine vacation house available for winter stays
The William Dean Howells Memorial House on Kittery Point, Maine, is available
to faculty and officers of the University for weekend and weekly rental
throughout the winter. The reduced winter rent is $300/weekend and $1,150/week.

Public health career day to be held next week
The eighth annual Career Day at the School of Public Health (SPH) will be
held on Friday, Feb. 16, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Kresge Cafeteria,
677 Huntington Ave. The event is designed to educate students about public
health employment opportunities.
In addition, a panel of SPH alumni will address the topic "Leadership
Skills for the 21st Century" at 9:30 a.m. in Kresge G-2.

Journal seeks submissions for spring issue
Harvard/Radcliffe Revival is seeking submissions for its spring issue.
Faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates are invited to write
on the topic of "Black Survival in the Economy" anywhere in the
world. Academic or personal essays are welcome.
In addition, Graduate students and undergraduates are eligible for a $100
prize.
